|A Tribute to a TV Classic|
Welcome to my NEW "Upstairs Downstairs" tribute page. For those unfamiliar with this slice of classic television, "Upstair Downstairs" – or "UpDown" as devoted fans call it – aired here in the USA on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre from 1971 to 1975.
The UK-produced series followed the lives of both the family and the servants in a London townhouse at 165 Eaton Place. Richard Bellamy, the head of the household, is a member of Parliament, and his wife Lady Marjorie a member of the titled aristocracy. Below stairs, Angus Hudson, the Scottish butler directs and guides the other servants about their tasks and (sometimes) their proper place. Real-life events from 1903-1930 are incorporated into the stories of the Bellamy household.
Below is Season One's (1971-1972) cast:

Sarah, under house-parlourmaid; Mrs Bridges, the cook; Alfred the footman; Hudson the butler; Emily the kitchen maid; Pearce the coachman (then chauffeur until 1908); Miss Roberts, Lady Marjorie's personal maid; Rose the head house-parlourmaid
Seated in front:
