"BULWORTH"
20th CENTURY FOX 1998 RUNNING TIME: 110 MINUTES
Perfect Political Satire. Yummy Warren Beatty proves
yet again that he is indeed more than just a pretty face.
Brutally frank on so many levels it almost seems a misnomer to categorize it as satire. Kudos to Laurie Metcalf who as always gives a subtle yet on target comedic performance.
Beatty and co-screenwriter Jeremy Pikser's script is a 100% un-politically correct gem.
Halle Berry gives a convincing performance. I think her scenes in the limo where she is espousing political philosophy, and the dance scenes at the after-hours club with Beatty are her best. It is here that both truly are "spirits" and not "ghosts".
Good luck charm Jack Warden is a familiar and beloved
sight. The entire supporting cast is flawless---Oliver Platt is hilarious throughout, as is Joshua Malina.
No matter what your political leanings, if you don't find
this film funny (as well as poignant in places), then you
will never truly understand the workings of American
Politics; take it from a D C Native, [who is that rare
thing that confounds pollsters: a conservative Republican
minority female with a sense of humor :-) ].
