FLASH's P A W TRIBUTE

April 02, 1998

Today is a one year anniversary.

I've never had this kind of anniversary before,
so I'm not sure what
(if anything)
I should do.
So I sat down and wrote this...

He was the most gentlest, kind and caring person I have ever known.
His sense of humor was second to none; it was the kind you would never forget.

He was a True Blue World War Two hero, with a
Presidential Unit Citation,
for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy

he rarely spoke of and a Purple Heart Medal he did speak of (A LOT HaHa) ...he was humble, but he was also blessed with the gift of gab.

He worked very hard to provide for his family and
to make sure they knew the glory of a higher power.
He truly had a heart of gold, filled with love.

Life was simple...

Joy and Laughter was a dividend that was paid daily in our house.

Even a simple shopping trip was a true adventure
and no one he passed by was ever a stranger.

I will always remember my first trip to a swimming pool with him.
(it had a sand bottom!)

Once I discovered jumping off the tallest diving platform into the deepest part of the pool, there was NO stopping me!

Poor guy, was wore out from jumping into the pool everytime I did, to make sure I was OK.

He was like that, he just didn't sit by and watch.

But he sure did sleep good that night.

Man-Oh-Man could he snore!

Maw always said that when she lay awake at nights while praying for both of my Marine (Recon) brothers; (who where in the deepest jungles of Vietnam at the same time), she would always have a smile on her face as she listened night after night to

my Dad,

(((( S-N-O-R-E ))))

then me,

((( S-n-o-r-e )))

and the "she's so ugly she's CuTe" English Bulldog, Pudgie,

(( S-n-O-r-E ))

He made us laugh, even while he slept!

Dad & Pudgie

Many, many years later,
"THEY" came......

Parkinsons then
Alzheimers then a
Walker.
[ PAW..get it? ]

They might have seemed to have taken him away from me,
but he is here....still....now in my heart, and in my tears, as I celebrate his wonderful life....today.... on the first anniversary of his death.

Please make someone smile today, he would have liked that.

"Since you were Precious in my sight,
you have been Honored and I have loved you....
Fear not, for I am with you always!"

You are my Magnet Dad...
I Love You!

"The Eternal Rose"

There's a rose that grows eternal,
in the garden of the souls.

Where the season is always spring
time, never touched by winters cold.

The rose it grows and blooms
tended by laughter, love, and care.

And the rose will bloom forever,
when those memories are shared.

My Mother
Playing Piano
& Aunt Edith

Throughout our lives
as we count our successes
and pat ourselves on the back,
how seldom do we remember who
it was that began it all.

I was very fortunate
in God's decision
that I be given to
the woman I
know as my Mother,
for it was she
who showed me
how to care,
how to love,
how to feel, and
how to be free.

"Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
for my spirit will
always be near you.

Close to your heart.
Always and forever."

- Mary Anne Mountain

"And if I go, while you are still here...
Know that I still live on,
Vibrating to a different measure,
Behind a thin veil that you cannot see through.
You will not see me, so you must have faith.
I will wait there for the time
when we can soar together again,
both aware of each other.
Until then,
live your life to the fullest.
And when you need me,
just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there."

- Tom Clancy
