Working with 3D Images Can be a Challange!
Many of the file sizes are large and can drag the load time of a page, often making it wise to take the image to an imaging machine to reduce its size.It is often neccessary to reduce the color of the image and sometimes quality suffers.
Some images can be used as full body backgrounds and some really work better as accent pieces, or as large images on email signatures.
Many work well as parts of "tables" and are enhanced with the addition of text. If text is to be used, care must be taken to select colors that won't be washed out by the often multiple colors or various shadings of the image.
It is helpful to be comfortable with the aspects of cropping, resizing, optimizing and just plain old "tweaking" an image to maximize its use.
Sometimes resizing, particularly increasing the size will badly distort the image making it useless as a full body background.
Occassionally an image will tile unattractively. meaning it shows as repeated representations of itself in small blocks, much like the appearance of a checker board. If this happens, the effect can sometimes be avoided with the following code in the body tag
<noembed></noembed>It may prevent tiling and appear as only one large image. I have used this code in email signatures with great success. Please don't give up on 3D images as an enhancement to your work. It is a process of learning, adapting, practicing and yes that ever faithful "tweaking" that can give some wonderul results.
Eventually I will give some examples of problem background images and some solutions to make them useable.
Until then, perhaps try a search and find images that appeal to you and take them off to an imaging machine and play with them until you get the desired result.
You may be amazed at what you can do !
For suitable colors to use for images and tools to adapt and alter them, click on the "Page Paints" and "Tools" buttons to the left and also check out the "Backgrounds" area.
You may find other helpful information in the "Full Index" area to make developing your pages easier.
Additional information will be added as I learn more about the process
