There are an enormous amount of files on the net for "classical" and "classical-style" MIDI. The background song here is J.S. Bach's wonderful "Brandenburg Concerto #2" and is played for your enjoyment by This area is qualified by "Classical and "classical-style" MIDI since the two genres are often mixed on MIDI sites. We often think of "Classical" as music written by composers such as Bach who lived between 1685 and 1750.In fact classical music has been composed continuously since very early times. You will see here links to modern men and women who are composing in this field yet today. It encompasses a wide range of sounds, including fuges and sonnata's as well as concerto's and a variety of other terms stemming from those long ago compositions and associated with instruments available to the period in which it was written. Perhaps we don't hear as much written with older instruments such as the harpsichord in mind, but with the addition of MIDI to the music scene, it does seem to be making somewhat of a comeback and is a welcome sound to many. When modern inventions and this historical form of music are blended, we hear delightful results ! There is so much material on the net that I have devoted a second page to their links. It would be nearly impossible to list them all and I do invite you to use my "SEARCH" page with music search engines to find more variety, but I think you may find more than enough to keep you busy for a very long time ! | |
